Do You Really Need To Detox?

Do you really need to detox?

Nowadays everybody is looking for that 2-week detox program to “cleanse” their body and start a so-called healthy life, wherever you go online there is a detox program a random trainer or nutritionist is trying to sell to you but the question is do they really work?

Well in simple words, NO! but since people tend to lose weight fast during a “cleansing” they think that these programs work without understanding that losing weight doesn’t always mean losing fat!

In fact, most of the weight you lost in these 2 weeks is just stored glycogen and water since 70% of the time these diets restrict your carbohydrates.

To better understand what I’m saying you should know that every 1 gram of carbohydrates contains 3 grams of water.

There is no scientific research backing these programs up and the promises they give you like curing diseases, fat loss, and other bs. These programs are not even tested for their safety in fact there are several reports that show some of the products used in these so-called cleansing diets damage the kidneys from green-smoothie cleanse or liver failure from drinking too much detox tea. But don’t get me wrong, we are not talking about medical detox that’s another topic out of our scope.

It’s not rocket science, your body is already a detox machine, just take a look at your liver, kidneys, or lungs, and many other organs that are working hard 24/7 to help your body stay healthy and function well.

So now you may ask, how can I keep my body away from toxins and stay healthy?

Well, you will never be 100% away from toxins since we live in a world full of them but you can keep your body healthy by eating a diet high in vegetables, protein, healthy fats, and fibrous carbs to help your organs work at their best plus drink lots of water and exercise daily.

Fiber is very important but unfortunately, it’s very low in most people’s diets.

Soluble and/or fermentable fiber can help with detoxification directly and indirectly.

Directly, they will bind to bile and toxins making them easier to excrete in the body.

Indirectly, they will feed the good bacteria in your digestive tract which then helps the liver and kidneys to increase their ability to excrete toxins.

Stop wasting your money, there is no magic supplement or pill to help you cleanse your body if it were all the people around the world would be living happy and healthy.

Instead, focus on your actions, start exercising, be more active, eat a diet high in vegetables, protein, healthy fats, and fibrous carbs, meditate daily, and enjoy your healthy life!.
